I have a previous generation Airport Extreme. I currently have my external HD plugged into my iMac, but it's noisy. My Airport Extreme is in an unused room. Can I plug the HD into the Airport Extreme and continue to use it for Time Capsule backups, albeit using WiFi?
Thanks!

Rather than try to password protect the drive, how about creating some encrypted DMG's or TrueCrypt containers on the drive.

Hello,
I am trying to develop an app where a user will be able enter text using the virtual keyboard and then have that data displayed on a label.
I am looking to have the following sequence: The user will access the text field, type a string of characters using the virtual keyboard, and the string of characters will be displayed on a label.
I have the following books "Programming in Objective C 2.0" by Stephen Kochan and "Beginning iOS4 Application Development" by Wei-Meng Lee.
Stephen Kochan's book goes through an exercise where a calculator app is developed. In this app a button for each calculator number corresponds with a label. I have been able to do the beginning parts of this app successfully. I believe I can use this app a stepping point and would like to modify its code for my needs.
To summarize currently I can know how take a preprogrammed string and attach it to a label but how do I allow that string to be entered in by a user using a text field?
Thanks.
The code for the I am using as my base is as follows:
AppDelegate.h file
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
@interface iPhone_1AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> {

If you're going to need that much memory, definitely go OWC. Apple's RAM upgrades are a huge ripoff.
Just curious, what do you need all that memory for?

Yeah, I thought that was amazing. I'm not sure how well it goes with his work though - I was expecting interesting cutting-edge work, not bland corporate stuff..
fyi, Leo Burnett are one of the largest advertising agencies in the world, hence the corporate work and the money to put into a gratuitously elaborate website...

It came in @ like 1100 with sales starting around 1115. Only had 16g black and white wifi only and 64g at&t. No ipad for me today...
I came in today on Sunday to the Kenwood store, and they said they didn't have any and didn't know when they would get any.

You will likely be able to get it on a Thumb Drive, use an External Drive, or use Remote Install to install it via another computer with an optical drive.

The rear camera would be useful to have enabled, for showing things to people for instance.

doesnt matter , im on a tight budget and i dont have another 240 dollars to pay along with the a $1700 i have to pay for my imac.
I'm not trying to argue with you, i'm sure in every thread you see on Macrumors they will say if you need it now, buy it now. I've been waiting about 6 months for this update and another 3 weeks is nothing as my setup works fine.
The LOGICAL thing to do if you've got a setup that works is to wait for the iPod and sell it, if you want to save money. I also don't have the extra money for the iPod, just happened to know someone looking to buy one of them and they were willing to wait to get it for ~25% off.

Am I the only person who liked the fat nano?
If you mean the 3rd generation, I love it. It feels good in the hand and is so durable (mine has been dropped a lot, yet still works perfectly). The only flaw is low capacity. I wish I could fit my entire collection on it.
I also have a 32 gig touch that I don't use that much, unless I'm away from home and want to check email or kill some time online. For music I prefer my old nano.

Applecare really comes in handy if you have problems. I had an early '08 macbook pro with the faulty nvidia card. The entire thing must have been replaced before I sold it: two bad screens, multiple fans replaced, logic board replaced, hard drive replaced, and probably more, I'm just forgetting.
