If you want to use a sequence of Terminal commands, you can put them in a shell script file (e.g., file /Users/myname/myscript), give the file execute permission (with the command chmod ugo+x /Users/myname/myscript), and then have AppleScript invoke the script rather than invoking a single Terminal command.
--- Example ---
Applescript:
tell application "Terminal" to do script "/Users/myname/myscript"
File /Users/myname/myscript:
#! /bin/sh
cd /Users/myname/perlstuff
...perl conversion command...
...other commands...
--- Example ---
Applescript:

File /Users/myname/myscript:
#! /bin/sh
cd /Users/myname/perlstuff

Does changing the hardrive void the guarantee? (I still have some of the 1year) and Apple Care?
I BELIEVE though I am not SURE that if you have an Apple certified tech put your new hd in a warrantied machine it will not void the warranty.
Just had this done on an iBook; also a superdrive was dropped in. I'll keep my receipts, for sure.

Now I know who you are talking about. His announcing style definitely is a classic. Though he is not the guy I was thinking of. The guy I was thinking of I have heard more recently in theaters and has that extremely deep voice that would put Barry White to shame.
You're thinking of Don LaFontaine, who passed away in '08.

Oh, and another new feature I learned about today from a friend-- there's no way to turn it off!
You can only "sleep" it with the top button, it will not actually power down like the iPhone, iPod Touch, Classic, Nano, old Mini, etc...
Weird, huh?
With my old 2nd gen nano i needed to keep the play button pressed for a few seconds. Ofcourse the new nano doesn't have a play button, but maybe a different button needs to be pressed?

I was only joking - but as it happens, I don't like the idea that someone has downloaded 1200 worth of software for free when I've paid for it

Hi everyone,
I have a question. How do you manage many large clips when you edit your videos in FCP?
I have about 80gigs left on my Macbook Pro, but I have about 100gigs of raw footage that needs to be edited. I tried putting them on an external hard drive and importing direct from there, but FCP doesn't even recognize that the hard drive is in there. It is FAT formatted and everything.
I tried using FCP Media Manager but I don't know if I'm doing it right. Original raw footage is 30 minutes and 30gigs large. I took a 15 second snippet and it was an estimated 4gigs. The math just doesn't add up here.
Is there a better way to manage my situation?
Many thanks.

If it truly is an official carrier unlock, then you can't lose it.

What exact FCP version on what exact Mac OS X version do you use?
Did a complete removal of FCP and reinstallation work?
Can FCP launch in another (even temporarily created) user account?
Btw, maybe a better thread title would be "Final Cut Pro X.y (version) does not start in Mac OS X 10.x.y on a G5 PowerMac".
To edit your thread title, just click on the http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/buttons/edit.gif button on the bottom right of your original post and then click the "Go Advanced" button below your message.

After much waiting thinking of whether to take the plunge with new iMac i7 for AVCHD video editing. Should I also take the plunge with FCE4 or is iMovie 11 able to native import AVCHD, or will need a AVCHD M2TS converter to prevent having massive 10GB+ video files created by iMovie
Thoughts and suggestions ?

I upgraded to 10.5 + iLife 08 on it although the restore discs are 10.4/06.
If you're selling it upgraded, you've gotta include the discs for 10.5 and iLife '08. If you don't have them or don't want to get rid of them, you'll have to have Tiger and iLife '06 installed.

Sure,
About 3 weeks ago, her battery life went from about 1hr and 45 min to a max of 20 minutes. Now, I have had batteries doe on me before, but this was an overnight thing, not gradual at all. I want to try and reset the PMU to see if I can get more battery life out of it, but the PMU does not seem to reset.
Regards,
Gus

If you are getting a 3G version, you can buy them at 5:00PM at the official Verizon or AT&T stores (not resellers). I'm at the Verizon Wireless in Turkey Creek and I am the only person here waiting for an iPad 2. Wait, two more people just walked in. So, 3 people. They are writing down names on a legal pad as you come in.
Just a heads up, if you think lines are for suckers.

I'm not sure if there are regional restrictions, but have you tried Masters.com (http://www.masters.com/)? They have a ton of streaming coverage, if you can get it. Amen Corner and 15 & 16 have their own feeds, as well as 2 featured groups that they are following. Give it a shot and see if it is available for you.

Hey all,
I want to pick up a kensington locking cable for my TiBook but I'm not sure which one to get. The Apple store sells the slim-lock, but according to the kensington site that one isn't compatible with the Ti. Can some let me know which works for sure? Thanks!
