I don't think touchscreen games/consoles could ever completely replace traditional ones. A separate market, yeah, sure. But button-and-joystick consoles won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Also, every time LTD posts I have a hard time discerning if he's trolling or not.
I have often wondered this, but I think it's too much dedication for a troll, but having looked at how he behaves, calling Steve Balmer "Monkey Boy", referring to Microsoft as "Micro$oft" or "Microsuck, he calls Windows "Windoze" or "Winblows" like a small child.
He immediately bows down and worships any decision Apple makes. He also thinks that Apple should be above the law because of "Their supreme awesomeness"
From this behaviour I've determined that he has to be about 14 years old.

I am very uncomfortable with the intervention in Libya. When you look at what is happening in Bahrain, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia etc. You have to ask the question why Libya. The repression in Libya is on a different scale entirely to those other countries. None of those others is using tanks and aircraft to attack their dissidents.
So, apparently you're old...
Yet you come across with all the maturity of an 11 year old.
:confused:Indeed, puzzling: I was putting it down to callowness, too.

What the hell are you talking about? I use iMovie for home videos and I use Final Cut at work. If you don't use something then you shouldn't be bitching about it.
This all started just because I said I hope Final Cut doesn't turn into iMovie. Somehow that turned into iMovie is pro and Final Cut is the Model T of editing.

:apple:Nice, about time. I am interested is seeing how it turns out.
Maybe I'm behind with the times, but I have no idea what OpenCL is. Apple has been known for supporting their standards no matter what sometimes.
OpenCL is the open version of GPGPU (if that helps any). It is ran by Khronos, just like OpenGL. What OpenCL would allow you to do is offload computations to any compatible device (in the is case we are focusing on GPUs) with CPU fall back (just like OGL). It is done because in some cases the GPU is faster than the CPU is (like say Folding@HOME, or encoding video).

Wonder if this will be the case in this? Chevy in Europe is a very cheap and nasty brand of car, much like Kia (they are re-branded Daewoo's).
Hold it right there! The Kia models sold in Europe actually nowadays borrow from the current Hyundai Motor Company parts bin, and as such are way more civilized cars. Anyone who's driven the Kia Cee'd hatchback in Europe know it's a way better car than people think.

You really are worried that Final Cut Pro will not be more complicated than iMovie??!
No, I'm worried that FCP could be dumbed down too much to properly do the job at hand.

I usually think Apple makes great decisions, but my guess is that Blu-Ray was a bad one. I think it will ultimately fail with consumers.
There is A LOT riding on this right now & given Sony's track record with this sorta stuff, im a little concerned. Their PSP (UMD) format is already on its way out & is being discontinued. Not to mention all the other failed Sony formats over the years.
Now, they announce the PS3 is gonna have that ridiculous price tag of $600, which could have been much cheaper if they didnt include Blu-Ray in every single machine. They should have made it an add-on & gave people a choice instead of shoving it in everyones face. Correct me if im wrong, but dont gamers just wanna play games? You're looking at upwards of $1,000 for the system, a couple games, add-ons, etc. If PS3 fails (which it very well might), then kiss Blu-Ray goodbye.
Sony is setting themselves up for a huge backlash & I could really care less about them. I just wish Apple wasnt supporting their format.

This is excellent. iPod sales are slowing down however this is to be expected. Nice to see the Mac sales well above the million mark.
iPod sales GROWTH is slowing, but iPod sales are still speeding up.

Wow, this is pretty cool.
I think Apple is waiting on the next PlayStation/Xbox to do something better.
I can see them using AppleTV/iPad/iPhone to their advantage, having the same games running on all devices, keeping the same save points, so you can be at work, play some Madden or whatever on your iPhone on a bathroom break, then on the train home, pull out your iPad, continue where you left off, get home and continue your Franchise on the Apple TV.
The HDMI dongle doesn't seem to be quite right yet, but I think this is encouraging for Apple and game developers.

Maybe its something to do with the new apple tv which supposedly runs IOS4, a replacement to front row on the imac? You could use your i device as a controller like you should be able to do with the new atv, making it possible to use all the same features/games as on your iphone/pad but displayed up on your larger screen. prefect for movies and a new games console of sorts.
This seems like a very logical and usable implementation on the imac, macbooks etc.

What does this mean for the regular MacBook then? Is it going to be another model or a replacement?

It mostly has to do with if it is confusing. Apple has a trade mark on "App Store" to sell applications through an online store. Amazon is using "Appstore" and is selling applications through an online store. Apple has a pretty strong case that Amazon is infringing on their trademark. If Amazon used "Appstore" for a chain of tire rotating store, Amazon could probably be in the clear. As it stands they are too close in intended use. Microsofts strategy is to invalidate the trademark. It's up to the USPTO to decide on the trademark.

Got #7 spot on the team!
Now it gets much harder, a month and a half at least.
The team is doing great with 230k PPD
we should maintain our rank at least, but I have a feeling many windows teams have not discovered the bigadv units yet. Rumor is if GPU3 is stable, it might make it to Linux.

"You've come to the right platform."
- from WWDC Apple banner http://guides.macrumors.com/Image:Coveredbanners.jpg. Apple is really doing a full court press against Windows!
This era is either the beginning of the Mac gaining serious market share, or the moment history will view as proof that Apple cannot make major market gains no matter how hard they try. My bet is on the former.

....Steve gets another call 5 mintues later...
...pulls out iPhone
...geeks bumrush the stage and carry Steve off on their shoulders
I find it hard to believe they'll get that excited about a Cisco Wifi phone, especially if a Motorola iTunes phone doesn't do the job...
I guess we'll see more of Leopard.
We might see more of iTV. I think, contrary to what some insist upon here, that iTV will be a standalone box, requiring no additional Mac to work. There's little point in it having storage if it isn't going to be, and a consumer device requiring a computer is something I think Apple wants to get away from. At the same time, what I've seen so far is Apple seperating the media business from the computer business, and wouldn't be surprised if they actually avoid showing iTV (and iPod enhancements) at MWSF.
iPod Phone (or whatever it's called) is a no-no. I'm not ruling out it being a future Apple product, there's too much evidence it exists, I just doubt it'll be there for MWSF, both because it's not a Mac (see above comment) and because I think they'd do an actual keynote. And, as always, for Apple's sake, I hope the rumour is complete rubbish.
iLife - why, yes. Even better would be improvements to iWork, notable some of the missing components added. Apple lacks an office suite. iWork is not an office suite, and Mac enthusiasts do everyone no favours by pretending it is. If Apple are unwilling to complete iWork, they could throw their weight behind NeoOffice.
I really love the game console rumour. It sounds completely made up to me, but now would be a great time to introduce something, even if it's just a low cost Mac mini in practice. The Playstation 3 is a disaster. The Xbox 360 isn't selling in anything like the numbers Microsoft hoped. The only console that's actually moving at the moment is the Wii, and the low power of the thing means it might only have a year of marketability in it. If ever there was a time for Apple to jump into the market, it would be now. But that said, I seriously doubt they will.
