Oh, I found out it wasn't an overheating problem. Just that Finder's preferences were on the fritz. I haven't had a crash since deleting them.

By iphoto file I mean an individual photo file not the entire library. 90% of my photos are in iphoto so I'm trying to import the photos from there into photoshop but not in bundles, one by one. I click on file in photoshop and then click on an individual photo file in the finder and it doesn't matter how I try to open a file in photoshop it still says that same error message.

I once returned a macbook after 14 days, the manager said he would make an exception for me. But generally, its 14 days, no restocking fee.

Check this article (http://x7.fi/2010/02/12/how-to-fit-your-website-for-the-apple-ipad/) for what's happening automatically and how to control the page zoom that is occurring.

Are you saying that DVDs won't play in DVD Player, or that they don't even mount on the desktop?

Thanks to everyone who helped out with Macrumors event coverage.
MudBug => Provided IRC transcripts
jammerb => Provided Satellite Feed for the website updates
Knox => IRC coordination/bot management
Mr. Anderson, Eyelikeart, AmbitiousLemon, Rower_CPU => Moderating these forums during this busy time
Sparkleytone,Shadow95 => IRC moderation
Some useless stats:
- ~1500 people were on IRC across 3 channels for the event coverage.
- The Keynote coverage page was loaded over 860,000 times yesterday.
- Forums hit a new record of 2652 users on at once. (and we didn't crash :) )

Hahaha That was a problem with my wording- I mean I have it fully installed on a separate partition on my Hard drive. I am hesitant to install it to my main partition which I use every day.
Now would be a good time for me to mention that I have a MacBook Pro 13' (2009) with 4GB of Ram and 750 GB HardDrive.
You should never install a developer preview as your main OS...no matter how stable it might be.

Are you using the MPEG componant for OSX or the one that gets installed with DVDSP?
I think the update is for the stand alone componant.
Just a thought, why don't you use Cleaner 6, it renders MPEG2 much better than QT but is slower (and more expensive)
i'll post the solution in case anyone else comes across the problem...
it was the DVDSP MPEG-2 codec. it was just weird timing; it disapeared right after updating to QT 6.3, which had that weird MPEG-2 update. reinstalling DVDSP solved the problem.

I do have a 1TG hard drive that I can partition. Is is easy to link to itunes though so it can read the movies??
Yes.
In iTunes, you can change the location of your iTunes library to any volume accessible by your computer. Change the path to the volume on your external drive and then import your music, and you'll be all set.

I just tried and OS X would not allow me to change the file anyway
That's just because the permissions on it are locked. You could easily unlock them.

No probs.
If you aren`t already aware of this, you can also "restore" your settings/apps/email etc onto your new iPad so setting up your next one should be a breeze.

The screen is only 1024x768 so you won't be watching 1080p. I don't know if it even has the horsepower to play 1080p even if you hook up the HDMI adapter for full resolution.
You will have to convert the mkv file anyways. Too bad VNC was pulled. I have it on my iPhone and was wanting to DL for my iPad but wasn't available node more :(

Im building a digital picture frame and I need help with the software setup.
Im baseing it on a Windows based laptop. I need some kind of software that can run an automated slideshow of pictures from a selected folder.
This all has to start automatically when the thing boots up. (Something I can add to start-up items)
Thansk!
(Sorry If I put this in a wrong section, I couldnt find any sections for windows stuff)

Thanks, Benjamin, I've kind of let my blog go for a little while in terms of maintenance.
I've waited about 18 hours now and still nothing. My understanding was that the status check should be instantaneous, though.

Please check your energy saver settings, that you are in fact sleeping the computer and not just the display, when on battery power.
If that is set correctly, try safe-booting and see if the rapid drain during sleep persists. Let me know what happens.
Also, let's benchmark the drain, awake vs. asleep, for say 1 hour each. Measure percent battery capacity and/or milliampere hours.

I'm not a writer by any means, so bear with me... I'll be as brief as I can... ;)
Around 1991, I became Interested in computers. I started taking some non-credit courses at the local community college (PCs, Windows).. :( I wanted to learn everything I could about computers.
After several courses, I learned that I could use computers for FREE at the local library...
so, one saturday, I went to the library.... with a floppy disk in hand.... to save my work on... (I did know that much about them. I had to save my work).
I walked into the library, and the staff pointed out where they were, so I walked over towards them.... they had 2-3 windows PCs there.... like I used in school....
However, they had another one that "caught" my eye.... It was a little thing.... small black/white screen, 9" in diameter.... all in one.... the entire thing was one piece. I thought that was sort of cool... (I later learned it was a Macintosh SE30)....
It had Word 4.0 on it... and a few kids games.....
I didnt really know much about what I was doing...
I was using Word to create a database of names and phone numbers! Sort of funny today when I think back about this. I was typing names and numbers in a document, and saving to the floppy disk.
after 1/2 hour on this computer, I was hooked..... I spent several more saturdays coming back to this thing... creating my "database"...
But I quickly discovered that "I had to have a Mac of my own".
so I bought my first one...
and the rest as they say is History.. ;)
It's almost and 4 Mac models later, many upgrades, and OS versions from System 7 to Jaguar 10.2.3, I'm STILL using Mac's!
I would NOT have it any other way.. ;)

Asking specific tax questions on an online forum is just asking for problems.
You should have tax forms from your university. Call them and ask or call the IRS and ask. But asking on an internet forum is a bad idea..
