Yes. Thanks. Makes total sense when you put it that way. Am trying to justify buying one. But as a monitor ...no.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Anyone else have comment on the dock connector?
Thanks.
Yes that isn't normal, but if it still charges maybe it's okay. If it doesn't charge then bring it back to the apple store.
Thanks.

Depending on your budget, have you considered an iMac and a base iPad? That way you would get the power of the iMac with the portability when needed with the iPad

Depends if it's a server side dependancy, that you be running a version after a specific build (which could be after PPC support was removed).

Have to (a) talk my wife into letting me buy; (2) talk her into letting me go at 6 on Friday... :)
How will we all find each other?

Target will accept a refund/exchange without a receipt up-to 3 times (in a life time), but you need a valid state issued ID and the UPC must be the same that is in their inventory system.
I have done this once before, but it was with a polo shirt that I had misplaced the receipt (I also paid cash) and the value was not greater than $20, so I am not saying that this is guaranteed to work, and they do have the right to refuse the refund for any reason.
Your better selling off selling the iPod on Craigslist, then take that money and go buy a new one (and this time you'll have a receipt).

H.264 video is not designed for editing. I'd use a different format if you want to edit it.

I'm trying to find a way to play a VC-1 encoded video stream on a Snow Leopard system.
Google tells me, manually installing Flip4Mac and the outdated Quicktime Pro v7 could work. Both are not really welcome on my system, so I'd like to find a way to play VC-1 encoded video by other means.
Has anyone found a way to accomplish this... or maybe a way to convert the stream (on mac!)?

I'm in line... too bad no fellow MacRumor people are in line =/
I was in line! I got there around 10pm. I think I was around the 20th person in line. I didn't buy an iPad but I kept my friend company for the wait. Here is some footage I recorded and put on YouTube if you're interested!

One of the dumbest thing ever.
It was on 4.01 and sold it to friend who wanted it clean.
I did the all reset on the phone and it got stuck.
So am I screwed ?? Only way to get the phone is to restore it to the latest firmware ??
Anyway other options I have ???

Email isn't sent "to your smartphone". It's sent to your email account. If you check it using your smartphone, that's not something the sender of the email has any control over.
What is your experience level in working with sensor networks, devices, etc.? What is your programming experience?
It sounds like you want a home automation system integrated with a computerized home security system. Some systems will do both, but not always, so you have to shop sensibly.
Starting from nothing at all, you should expect to spend at least a few hundred dollars to get started. If you already have something installed, such as sensors or controlled outlets or devices, the cost may be less. It depends on how well what you have can connect to the overall system architecture.

Sound like a good idea?
Not #4, The last time I did that my G5 Electrocuted me, and it wouldn't boot for a week!
I ned to get typing and do a few more classic pages! The plan is interesting, I just don't know how to work with the software well enough to help implement it!

After many hours of fruitless Internet searches regarding the following, I hope a member here can help me, please ! I have quite a few .RA (Real Player) songs on my Mac. As you will know, when clicking on the .RA icon, Real Player fires up, makes a connection and plays the music. Is there any way I can convert these .RA files into .MP3s ? Initially, I thought iTunes would do the encoding, but it doesn't. Surely there is something out there for Mac users (I have seen many .RA-to-.MP3 converters for PCs) to help me out ?
I know I could record the Real Player stuff onto my cassette deck via the hi-fi then add them back to my Mac via CD Spin Doctor as MP3s, but this would be too time-consuming. Someone help me, please !

A microphone signal output is too low to plug right into your computer. This is where a microphone pre amp comes in,it boosts the gain of the signal to a high enough level to record with your PC.I think a hardware compressor would be of use.Saving you possible processing time on the computer, but I don't think you really need it.I imagine they employ some safety measures like this in broadcast.

I have a 12" Powerbook (1.5GHz) and want to buy an external microphone (mainly for using Skype). Since the Powerbook only has line in, what would you recommend me to buy?
