GAH! Static text! Make it move a little bit, in this case probably a little zoom effect will go miles. ;)
Great idea though (might want to check the facts on actual release times, i.e. PowerBooks started at 100 in 1991) Apple-History (http://www.apple-history.com) will help you there

Absolutely...I run 10.4.2 on my old Sawtooth 400 Mhz G4 which I use as a web server, while I do my graphic production work on my Dual G5. It definitely helps if you have your RAM slots maxed out. I have 1GB in mine and the beachball still spins sometimes. OSX 10.4.2. is a bit of a RAM hog.

I am in London and thought I could use my iPad 2 here but am having trouble. Does anyone know what I need to do to use my iPad 2 over here? I have the 64gb 3G AT&T.
Interesting that your AT&T sim didn't auto switch to O2 and just charge you at the overseas rate. I go back and forth from several Euro countries and the US and my sim just alternates from AT&T in the US, Movistar in Spain, O2 in the UK, etc... Seems kind of weird that you are having issues.
But yeah, failing getting a sim from O2 or Apple, plenty of Wi-Fi hotspots in London as mentioned above.

Are you talking about the Time Capsule? If so, why not connect it via USB to your Mac directly and try Disk Utility then?
Yes, I meant Time Capsule, thanks :)
I'll try connecting via Ethernet, see if that works? I don't have a USB Male > USB Male wire, so I'll have to try Ethernet.
Thanks for the idea :)

i bought an ipad original today in the $100 price drop and love it. i would have gone ipad 2 but there is no retina so ill pass.
anyway, the number one feature that would almost triple the value of it to me would be the ability to answer texts i get from my iphone, on my ipad. its such a hassle if im walking around with it, to set it in a safe place and get my phone out of my pocket or backpack. is there anyway to do this? i will obviously jailbreak it if necessary.

I just picked up a DLO HomeDock HD @ Amazon. Retail is $299 but on sale for $34. The dock has on-board software and provides a "media center" like interface. It has its quirks but I like it...especially for the price.
The dock requires that it be connected to a TV. But if you're looking for something that integrates the iPod into a living room entertainment system, this thing is pretty cool.

You're probably looking at $850 - $900 around here; you could get $1050 or more on ebay.

No, don't bother. Safari is in some ways implicitly expected to always be available from an OS perspective. Removing it is incredibly counter intuitive. You gain a smidgen of space and open yourself up to running into a heap of trouble down the line.
If your computer literacy is at a level where you can't find out what files actually do then you should not remove anything other than your own generated content.

I love Daytrotter (http://www.daytrotter.com)- their design, the selection of bands, the quirky original pictures, the weirdly pretentious articles that manage to somehow cast the ordinary and banal in a scholarly light, and of course the music itself. I'd love it if they used a slightly higher bitrate, but it's a small complaint and doesn't take away from the overall enjoyability of these recordings.
Unfortunately I mainly just look there for bands I already know and wish I'd spend more time discovering new ones. Maybe there's some other sessions someone can especially recommend. Anyway, here's my current collection. Maybe someone wants to post their 'Daytrotter' library.
By the way: They just released an iPhone app (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/browserRedirect?url=itms%253A%252F%252Fitunes.apple.com%252FWebObjects%252FMZStore.woa%252Fwa%252Fvi ewSoftware%253Fid%253D336773710%2526amp%253Bmt%253D8). It's also great.

Would a program like Crypt (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12572) work? I haven't used it in a while, but as I recall, it just makes an encrypted file of whatever you want password-protected, and the only way to open it is by typing in a password that you decide when you encrypt the file.

Good point about the other websites. I didn't think about that. I did, in my defense, reference the source.
As for the Xcode Tools - I had intended to add more, but got off on other stuff.
But, since I got my own thread here, what do you guys think about this:

as seen here:

Some of the guides are Tiger-only, so I thought I'd make that little badge.

Anyone going to be at the West Town Mall store the 26th?
You know ... I'd love to go only if I lived in Knoxville. I just moved to Gainesville and they do not EVEN have apple store. Sucks!
